When: 9-12:30, 4 April 2013
NIWA, Landcare Research, and AgResearch have been trialling a framework called OMS3, which was developed by the USGS and was selected for trialling in the Framework for Interoperable Freshwater Models (IFM) research project.
We invite you to take part in a half-day web-based seminar where we will review framework selection, discuss our experience with testing OMS3, have presentations from the OMS3 programme leader, Olaf David. We will also have the opportunity to discuss how this framework can meet the needs of end-users.
The goal of the IFM project is to allow existing mathematical models relevant to freshwater quality and quantity to work together, or interoperate by communicating with each other, to provide more complete solutions to freshwater questions. Further information on IMF is at https://teamwork.niwa.co.nz/display/IFM/Framework+for+Interoperable+Freshwater+Models
The workshop will be conducted as a webinar. It will be roughly divided in 2 parts, a overview section and a more detailed technical section.
The preliminary outline for the workshop is:
Project overview: Screening evaluation of frameworks, model and data database, and interactive viewer. Reasons for trying OMS3. Strategy for trialling.
Overview of OMS3. What it tries to achieve, what it does, where it’s going, overview of some case studies.
Feedback on progress so far
Example applications in NZ
More in-depth OMS3 technical examples
Future directions and closing.
The finalized workshop plan will be circulated at a later date along with instructions on how to participate online.
